# Terminology

> Language rules that prevent architecture and status drift.

Use **current** only for accepted/deployed facts; use **future** or **deferred** for unimplemented work; use **historical** or **superseded** for retained prior decisions. Do not call a provider’s pretrained knowledge B.R.A.I.N. knowledge. Do not call embeddings canonical. Do not call Basic Memory cognitive memory. Do not call a passing local test deployed proof, or a deployed proof operational qualification.

When a source conflict exists, preserve historical wording where useful and name the current accepted position.
